The Düsseldorf Old Town, alongside Königsallee, is a central hub in Düsseldorf. This year, it features no less than four Christmas markets, each taking visitors into different worlds. In addition to the Christmas Market at Burgplatz, the Old Town also hosts the Handicraft Market at the Town Hall and the Old Town Market on Flinger Street. A special premiere in 2024 is the Roncalli Christmas Promenade along the Rhine River. Let yourself be enchanted by lovingly decorated stalls and perhaps a mulled wine or two, drawing you into the festive pre-Christmas atmosphere!
Handicraft Market in Front of the Town Hall
The Christmas market in front of the Town Hall lies in the heart of Düsseldorf’s Old Town and is one of the themed markets. Every year, a large decorated Christmas tree stands at its center, making it a focal point. What makes this market so special are its huts, designed in a style inspired by the Renaissance-era Town Hall. The Handicraft Market, with its unique crafts, the Christmas tree, and the intricately restored carousel nearly 100 years old, is a highlight in Düsseldorf for young and old alike. Here, you can still find last-minute gift ideas, as blacksmiths, glassblowers, wood turners, and many others offer unique products.
Christmas Market at Burgplatz
Here, you’ll find the 55-meter-high Ferris wheel “Wheel of Vision” as every year. The Ferris wheel at Burgplatz has 42 cabins and is open from October 18, 2024, to January 5, 2025. The Christmas stalls, built in a romantic style, create the atmosphere of a French village. The food is also tailored to this theme: blueberry mulled wine, wild boar, and tarte flambée invite visitors in Düsseldorf to stay and enjoy.

Christmas Market on Flinger Street
Düsseldorf’s shopping mile not only invites you to shop but also offers festive stalls. A particularly popular meeting point is the mulled wine pyramid at the corner of Flinger Street and Hunsrücken Street. This pyramid has been there since 1994 and remains one of the most beloved mulled wine stands.
Roncalli Christmas Promenade
This market opens its doors for visitors for the first time this year. From November 21, 2024, to December 30, 2024, the founder of Circus-Theater Roncalli creates a unique combination of tradition and festivity. Rare and historic circus artifacts will also be on display, adding a special flair to the market.
