Every year, the event attracts people from all over Germany who want to take part in the colourful parade in the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia.<\/p>\n<p>The street festival is an event that takes place in many cities around the world in the months of May and June. The acronym CSD stands for Christopher Street Day and is reminiscent of the first known demonstration by queer minorities against police brutality on Christopher Street in New York.<\/p>\n<p>On the morning of 28 June 1969, the so-called Stonewall Uprising took place in the Stonewall Inn bar. At that time, there were regular violent police raids on establishments with transgender and homosexual target audiences.<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, CSD is a day of celebration, remembrance and demonstration for the LGBTQ+ community. People come together to signal acceptance and equal rights for minorities in society, particularly in relation to sexual orientation and gender identities.<\/p>\n<p>In D\u00fcsseldorf, the CSD attracts a large number of people who come from different parts of NRW and even from other cities to take part in the parade, demonstration and party.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"MOTTO_2024_%E2%80%9CRED_CARD%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>MOTTO 2024: &#8220;RED CARD&#8221;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Every year, the organisers choose a current motto for a central statement. For 2024, it is the red card against homophobia, transphobia, racism and oppression.<\/p>\n<p>CSD D\u00fcsseldorf says: &#8220;In a society that celebrates diversity and respect, exclusion and hatred have no place. Let&#8217;s send a strong signal for acceptance, equality and love &#8211; for a world in which everyone can be free and proud of who they are.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"PARADE_TO_DUSSELDORFS_JOHANNES-RAU-PLATZ\"><\/span>PARADE TO D\u00dcSSELDORF&#8217;S JOHANNES-RAU-PLATZ<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The CSD in D\u00fcsseldorf 2024 will once again take place around and on Johannes-Rau-Platz and the main stage will be there again in 2024. The stage will feature shows, dancing, solo singing and band performances throughout the three days.<\/p>\n<p>The information stands of various groups, associations, parties and initiatives will be on site, as the festivities at Johannes-Rau-Platz in the immediate vicinity of the Rhine have become an integral part of the CSD D\u00fcsseldorf repertoire.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, there will also be an opportunity for refreshments. Food and drinks can be enjoyed with a view of the Rhine and the unusual costumes.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ROUTE_OF_THE_PARADE\"><\/span>ROUTE OF THE PARADE<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>At 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, 25 May, the line-up will start between Oststra\u00dfe and Kalstra\u00dfe in Friedrich-Ebert-Stra\u00dfe. The subsequent demonstration towards the street festival at Johannes-Rau-Platz will begin at 13:00.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"TRAVELLING_AND_PARKING\"><\/span>TRAVELLING AND PARKING<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Parking for the Pride event is available in the multi-storey car parks in the city centre and old town of D\u00fcsseldorf. There are also car parks around K\u00f6nigsallee, but if you find parking too expensive or stressful, you can use public transport.
